Working Location: Site / Project Based option/Flexible
Under supervision of the Project Lead and Head of Planning, to be responsible for implementing the requirements of the tender and / or project planning procedures, ensuring compliance with the contract documentation as well as effective monitoring of planned deliverables forecasting multiple completions of interfacing trades.
To establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with clients and project team members.
Key Responsibilities:
· During tender stage, report to the Planning Lead as Line Manager and Bid Manager as Front Line Manager for the range of activities involved in the project planning life cycle.
· During contract stage, report to the Planning Lead as Line Manager and Project Leader as Front Line Manager.
· Ensure that the programme content is functionally compliant with the project planning procedures and guidance.
· Identify planning scope, major constraints and contract requirements.
· Identify major quantities and factors affecting the programme.
· Establish and agree with the Project Leader and Project Manager construction outputs and agree working hours with the appropriate Estimator.
· Establish and agree with the Project Leader and Project Manager and Bid Team key methods of construction, sequencing, installation, and hand over.
· Produce and document the planning deliverables including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations and reports.
· Produce the Tender Programme and supporting information in accordance with the tender requirements.
· Develop overall programmes, issuing to all parties for review and implement recommendations, innovation and best practice as applicable.
· Reconcile company and sub-contract plant/labour and major materials elements in conjunction where appropriate apply resource levelling techniques as necessary.
· Interface with third parties to identify and resolve issues.
· Ensure that the Contract Programme is produced, managed and maintained in accordance with the project planning procedures.
· Determine the overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of the Contract Programme activities.
· Issue and communicate the Contract Programme to the Project Lead for onward issue to Client and Project Team.
· In collaboration with the project commercial team, identify from the contractual documents scheme milestones including notification times so as to serve appropriate notices.
· Ensure that all other project planning and programming necessary for the execution of the contract is properly undertaken.
· Daily monitor work activity with the appropriate key performance indictors set up and in place to identify programme gain/ slip.
· Develop short, medium and long term look ahead programmes in conjunction with the production team and supply chain whilst securing buy in from the relevant parties.
· Identify programme float and report on its status to the Project Leader.
· Consider alternative methods of delivery / sequencing and accurately assess potential sequence changes to the critical path.
Knowledge:
· Proficiency in the use of planning techniques and the required planning toolsets P6 and ASTA PowerProjects.
· An understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications including JCT, NEC or bespoke forms of Construction Contracts.
· An understanding of various methods of planning, programming and progress monitoring.
· An understanding of risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning programming.
· An understanding of the events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate, delay or change entitlement.
· An understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications.

Experience:
Operational experience (i.e. site engineer/site agent) together with previous significant experience of planning services in medium to large sized projects within the construction industry;
