The Role
- The provision of a defined range of property services at our various client sites.
- General building maintenance including some knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, decorating, general grounds work and/or basic building fabric work. Knowledge of at least one of these criteria is required; more than one would be beneficial.
- Completion of risk assessments & method statements on site, obtaining work permits, and completion of time-sheets.
- Compliance with company health and safety procedures and current legislation.
- Complete conversance with company procedures and organisation.
- General building maintenance at client sites to required specification and clients' total satisfaction.
- Ensuring the company is always presented in a positive manner.
- Compliance with all existing systems, procedures and work practices.
- Establishment of excellent interpersonal relationships with the company's clients, suppliers, sub-contractors, employees and other outside agencies.
Key Responsibilities
The role of Property Services Multi-Skilled Engineer is important as you are crucial in ensuring the department achieves exceptional standards for the client.
Daily travel to attend at various client sites across a wide area, including in Reading, Bracknell, Slough, Buckingham and Our Client's offices as required
Duties will include:
- Attending at our client sites to carry out general building work which will include mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, decorating, general grounds duties and basic building fabric work.
- Customer liaison while on site including talking to clients and ensuring enquiries are promptly processed and responded to, keeping clients informed of any delays or difficulties encountered.
- Use of smart technology (iPhone / iPad) as mobile platform to manage workload using existing TABS and new CLICK software.
- Keeping the Helpdesk, Property Services Manager and Head of Property Services informed of progress on site, notifying of any problems including if standards cannot be achieved or deadlines met.
- Assessing any risks while on site and completing a generic risk assessment to incorporate any additional risk identified on the day work is completed. Ensuring that no work is carried out without a risk assessment, method statement and work permit (where necessary) in place.
- Liaison with other company departments, as required.
- Attending departmental meetings including discussion of all ongoing and scheduled jobs and client enquiries and reviewing reports and action lists.
- Focal contact point for the company Property Services queries while on site.
- Ensuring Job Sheets and Timesheets are accurately completed and submitted on time.
- Dealing with initial client complaints on site regarding Property Services, escalating to the Head of Property Services for resolution.
- Assisting with basic on the job training of new staff to explain the company's procedures and good working practices.
- Ensuring the company is always presented in a positive manner.
- Keeping the work area clean, tidy and well organised.
- Occasional tasks at the discretion of the management and any additional ad-hoc duties as required.
- Understanding and implementing the company's organisation, services, standard procedures and policies.
- Taking part in training and meetings as required and reporting to the Head of Property Services and Property Services Manager, keeping them informed of all developments.
- Informing the HR Manager of any personal or health issues regarding the team that are causing concern and any change of personal information such as home address, telephone number etc.
The Candidate
To be considered for the Property Services Multi-Skilled Engineer role you should be ex-military and have the following skills, experience and qualifications:
- City & Guilds 236 Part 1 and 2
- Semi-qualified Plumber
- Experience in building maintenance risk management
- Overall knowledge, skills and experience of at least one of the following: Mechanical engineering, plumbing, carpentry, Painting & Decorating and Air-conditioning
- Updated knowledge of BS EN ISO 9001: 2008, OHSAS 18001: 2007 and ISO 14001: 2004 quality standards
- Demonstrate values in regard to customer service, courtesy to all clients, suppliers, work colleagues and other agency professionals
- Confident and able to work unsupervised.
- Basic standard of numeracy and literacy
- Build confidence and competence through the application of instruction and training.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Good communication.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
