Salary: up to £25,000 per annum

The National Roads Telecommunications Services (NRTS) project builds, maintains and develops the Highways Agency's technology deployed in England's motorways and works constantly to maximise network uptime. As the project develops, so does the team and competencies. Many new roles have developed in response to new opportunities, requirements or challenges.
The Role
My client is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join them as an O&M Engineer, to be an integral member of the NRTS team in the North East and North West region.
The purpose of this role is to carry out maintenance duties on the Highways Agency motorway telecommunications network, which at times will also require equipment installation works associated with either the roadside legacy infrastructure or the Alcatel core network. You will be responsible for ensuring established and potentially new customer relationships are maintained and developed, you will also assist in managing third party subcontractors engaged in O&M activities. You will liaise with the Lead Engineer, other Company and GeneSYS teams in planning and programming work as well as assist other colleagues in achieving their tasks, reporting to the Management team on progress and issues.
This role will involve gaining a detailed knowledge of both the Highways Agency NRTS contract requirements and the network equipment which needs to be maintained. You will be required to participate in out of hour's stand-by rota and call-out system when required.
The Candidate
The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience of working on a motorways communications contract, with detailed knowledge of all network communications equipment either at a national or local level. You will also require comprehensive knowledge of communications equipment throughout the motorways network.
