JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Farming Operatives (Ex-military only)

Location: North Shropshire

Start Date: ASAP

Our Client is the 5th largest dairy farm in the UK, based in North Shropshire. They are a family run dairy farm in business now over a decade.

An excellent opportunity to gain experience in agriculture working with livestock. You will be trained to be a relief dairy stockman operate and maintain agricultural machinery and be introduced to the management systems required to run an efficient farm. You will be working as part of an energetic team.

The role will involve considerable variety and give the candidate an opportunity to develop a broad range of skills which will form a sound starting point for a career in agriculture.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Managing 2000 cattle's.
• To learn and then carry out other necessary stock and yard work tasks at the dairy or young stock unit, including mucking out, bedding down and feeding.
• To undertake relief work with other livestock.

• To learn and undertake a range of machinery maintenance tasks as required across the farm's operations.
• To learn how to keep an up to date inventory of livestock supplies and resources
• Be trained to and then be responsible for calf management including, colostrum storage and administering, feeding, housing, monitoring growth rates and recording.
