About our Client
Our client is a Corporate Approved Inspector licenced by the Government (via the Construction Industry Council (CIC)) to undertake plan checking, site inspection and issue Building Regulations Approval and Completion Certificates.
They are based in London and cover all areas of London so their clients don't need the inconvenience or uncertainty of applying to a different local authority every time they start a new job.
What sets our client apart from others is that they are regulated by the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors), they have quality processes and procedures in place which meet the ISO 9001 standard, they are periodically vetted by the CIC and they have invested heavily in a fully dynamic project software database to manage projects professionally.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plans Checking and Drawing
- Asking the client for further details;
- Advising applicants on changes to ensure the legal requirements are met;
- Issuing conditional approval, subject to other steps being included in the process;
- Granting approval for the work to commence.
- Undertaking the minimum number of timely inspections as required by company targets and with credence to the DCLG KPIs and CIC Code of Conduct expectations.
- Drafting drawings and setting up templates for fire safety drawings and consultancy jobs,
Site Inspection
- Carrying out regular inspections of the building and building methods;
- Inspecting and testing foundations and drainage works;
- Taking samples of new building materials and assessing their suitability;
- Keeping records of the visits made to site and writing reports;
- Issuing completion certificates when the work has been carried out satisfactorily.
- Undertaking the minimum number of timely plan checks as required by company targets and with credence to the DCLG KPIs and CIC Code of Conduct expectations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Liaising and communicating with members of the public, councillors, construction professionals and statutory bodies, e.g. highways, planning and environmental health departments;
- Liaising with special interest groups such as historic building conservation officers and national heritage organisations, e.g. the National Trust, English Heritage,
- Keeping up to date with current regulations and legislation;

- Working toward obtaining full professional membership of at least one of the following professional bodies, CIOB, CABE RICS; CIAT or other as agreed,
- Maintaining at least 20 hours (formal and informal) Continuing Professional Development (CPD);
- Upholding professional and ethical standards at all time;
- Assisting by whatever means client relations and client development to help grow the business.
- Issuing completion certificates when the work has been carried out satisfactorily.
- Adhering to the CIC Code of Conduct;
- Any other duty as may be necessary and reasonable.
